Just one week into the season and the first postponement of the season has occurred as Swallonest’s NCEL Division One tie against East Yorkshire Carnegie is off due to an unfit pitch.
EYC manager Leon Sewell was less than impressed when he heard the news this afternoon, “Really disappointed and frustrated that this weekends game has been called off due to an unfit playing surface.
“Whilst appreciating that we’ve had a dry summer and little wet weather it’s really not acceptable to have a game called off the second weekend of the season.
“Ourselves and many other clubs have had to rely on committee members, grounds men and volunteers putting in endless amounts of hours to get the playing surfaces somewhere near a suitable and safe playing surface.
“My main frustrations come in the fact that we have offered to switch the game to our Dunswell Park ground but this has been rejected yet the game between Swallownest and Parkgate on Wednesday night has been switched to Parkgate‘ home ground.”
