Something has to give as Nostell host Worsbrough

It’s definitely a wee bit early to talk about six- pointers, but of the four teams left in Toolstation NCEL Division One with one hundred per cent records, two clash at the Welfare Ground on Saturday in an eye-catching collision between Nostell Miners Welfare and Worsborough Bridge Athletic –but, as Nostell Manager Jason Dodsworth was quick to remind us, there’s more to life than football, writes Colin Muncie.

Jason told the Bootiful Game “I would just like to pass on sincere condolences to Callan (Worsborough) and Connor (ex-Worsborough, now with Glasshoughton Welfare) at the tragic loss of their mum,, Lucille, from all at Nostell MWFC. We have a lot of players who know each other -and are good friends of these two lads -so we’re really sorry to hear of this news”.

All at the Bootiful Game send their best wishes to Connor and Callan.

Turning to Saturday’s clash, Jason isn’t expecting a walk in the park “Two sides which will be going for the win!!!” he assured the Bootiful Game. “I’m sure we are in for a cracking game on Saturday and we know it will be a blood and thunder kind of game that we will have to be at our best to win. Worsborough have had two good wins- like ourselves- so they will be full of confidence coming into it. Mozza (Brigger’s Manager Lee Morris) seems to have got them going and it’s a game we are looking forward to. It’s kind of a local derby in a sense”.

“We have some players returning from holiday to strengthen our squad -and the lads will be up for it.”

Lee Morris is expecting a cracking afternoon for the spectators against a side he rates highly “We are expecting another tough game against one of the favourites for the title” he told us “They have signed very well over the summer and I expect them to be right up there come May. I’d go as far as saying anyone that finishes above Nostell will be champions so we know what kind of task we have in front of us”.

“We are not fazed and will look to go there with a game plan to get three points” Lee insisted.

“I’m sure it will be a good game for the spectators!”
