ANDERSON: “The lads look sharp, hungry and are looking forward FA Cup trip to Ashington!”

Knaresborough Town are another team from the NCEL that have to face a Northern League side in the FA Cup on Saturday. They face Ashington, who were once managed by former England cricketer Steve Harmison! Last season they finished 12th.

Knaresborough had a great season last time out getting promotion from the NCEL Division One and have started life in the Premier Division well winning their first game beating Albion Sports 2-1.

Knaresborough Town assistant manager Gregg Anderson is ‘excited’ at having the chance to compete in the FA Cup but also “The FA is always a great competition to try and qualify for!
The club is excited to be able to compete in this competition, as every club who is in this competition it’s a chance to try get a bit of prize money for the club and that always helps!

We travel to Ashington on Saturday and having watched them and heard match reports on their performances it’s going to be a tough test! They keep fighting to the end in games so as always we need to be at our best to get anything out of the game!

We welcome back in the skipper Will and Rob Youhill back into the squad for tomorrow.

Stanny, myself and Colin are having headaches about what team to pick and what squad to take.. all being said, they are good headaches.

We trained on Wednesday and all the lads looked sharp, hungry and are looking forward to the trip to Ashington!”
