Penistone Church, like most teams are looking forward to taking part in the FA Cup this weekend. They take on Bootle FC who play in the NCWFL Premier Division and finished 5th last season, writes Mitchell Radford.
Penistone lost their opening game last Saturday against title favourites Handsworth Parramore 3-1. Nothing to take away from Penistone as Handsworth are genuine title contenders and have strengthened well after finishing 4th last season.
Ian Richards penistone manager had this to say on the game: “We are really looking forward to the FA Cup game this Saturday. We would love to reproduce the successes and exciting scenes that we had last season in the competition.
“We face a strong combative Bootle FC from the NCWFL Premier Division. They finished 5th last season and have started this campaign with 2 draws, so we know we will have to be at our best to progress. We need to take advantage of a home draw and ensure we start positively and take the game to them. I have good information on the opposition so will use this to make sure we maximise our strengths and exploit their potential weaknesses.
“This competition is very much for the club and community as it brings a real buzz, great exposure and continues to raise the profile of the club. The players are excited for the game and are full of confidence.
“We have a full squad to pick from with Brett Lovell’s back 100% after another week of training and physio, Jordan Coduri has had the all clear from the specialist to play after breaking his arm at the end of last season and Dunc and Ringy are both back after ‘extended’ holidays. We look forward to a bumper crowd of 250+ and start another memorable cup adventure.”
