A cracking win on the road for Dronfield Town last night, when they went to previously-unbeaten Toolstation NCEL Division One leaders Worsborough Bridge Athletic at Park Road and came away with a 2-1 win –and Dronfield Manager Chris Millington was understandably delighted to take three points from the in-form Briggers, writes Colin Muncie.
Dronfield led 1-0 at the break thanks to Callum Mawbey’s 26th minute goal, watched by a crowd of 60. Joe Dungworth struck back for the League leaders after 54 minutes, but Matty Ord clinched the win for the visitors just before the hour.
Chris told the Bootiful Game “We played well tonight and I think we were good value for all three points. As I said previously Worsbrough is a tough place to go on weeknight. We were intense throughout and if we would have been more clinical we could have scored a couple more. I was really pleased with the response from the team when Worsbrough drew level and we got our rewards with a well worked winner”
Chris acknowledged the start Lee Morris’s side had made, but now looks forward to the rest of August. “Fair play to Worsbrough -they have had a great star” Chris said “but it looked like we were a bit fresher as we didn’t have a game Saturday and they had a tough one at Nostell. We move in to the next three games against Hallam on Saturday and then Bolsover twice, and we have set a points target from the three games that should give us a good base moving into September”.
