By the admission of their own Joint Manager Lee Vigars, Glasshoughton Welfare have had an up and down start to their Toolstation NCEL Division One season, with one win and two defeats. In midweek, they suffered a 2-1 home loss to Armthorpe Welfare, but have an immediate opportunity to make amends when they travel to the M Pilbeam Construction Stadium for the reverse fixture-and Lee admits that he’ll be shuffling his pack for the trip to South Yorkshire, writes Colin Muncie.
Lee told the Bootiful Game “So after losing out 2-1 against Armthorpe on Tuesday night we now have to travel to Doncaster and face them again in a league fixture just 4 days later! We were extremely disappointed with the result and our overall performance on Tuesday – taking nothing away from Armthorpe as they fully deserved the victory, but we were left with the feeling afterwards that we hadn’t given everything we could or should have done and had let ourselves and our supporters down”.
“We will be forced into making some changes due to a suspension and a couple of injuries” Lee reported “but in all honesty we were looking to shake things up anyway. It’s still very early days and there’s 8 months & 35 league games to go -but the sooner we start to find the form we’re capable of the better. We’re a very young side with a few finding their way in senior football so we aren’t panicking as we see the quality they possess each week at training”.
“With every game we play these lads are gaining experience -so in time we know we’ll be back where we belong ,mixing it at the top end of the table”.
