After their fine midweek win over Thackley, Penistone Church head north to the Southerns Stadium tomorrow for an appointment with Toolstation NCEL Premier Division new boys Yorkshire Amateur at – and Church Manager Ian Richards expects a game for the purist, writes Colin Muncie.
Ian told the Bootiful Game “We are looking forward to Saturday’s Yorkshire Derby, in what should be a very entertaining game between two teams who play attacking football. Yorkshire Amateur have acclimatised quickly to the Premier Division with two comprehensive wins in their last two games and have some very technically sound footballers who will look get the ball down and play. We’ve got to stick to our beliefs, and be disciplined and organised out of possession and get our creative players on the ball in the right areas of the pitch”.
Ian has fond memories of Penistone’s last trip to Ammers, with both sides in Division One back in the 2016/7 season . “Our last trip to Yorkshire Amateur saw us beat them 3-2 with a last minute winner from Scott Whittington” Ian recalled. “We would be very happy with similar scenes on Saturday”.
