Worsborough Bridge Athletic sit –mathematically- third but with a table –topping 12 points in Toolstation NCEL Division One after a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Skegness Town at Wainfleet Road this afternoon- but Briggers Manager -and winning goalscorer- Lee Morris is quick to remind us that he doesn’t think his team have hit peak form yet, writes Colin Muncie.
William Britton put the Lilywhites in front after 14 minutes in front of a Vertigo Stadium crowd of 79, but Jack Wilson (35) levelled for the visitors to send the sides in 1-1 at the break. It was left to Lee Morris to clinch the points with a 73rd minute winner.
Lee told the Bootiful Game “It was the perfect reaction to Wednesday night. We were missing a lot of players today and to scratch a squad together, travel the distance we have and pick three points up shows that we are a different animal this year. We were poor in that first twenty minutes but we got better as the game went on; and in the second half I think we deserved the three points and the lads will enjoy the journey home!!!”
“If someone had told me we would have 12 points from 15 I would have snatched their hand off;we are still far from our best. But to be joint top after 5 games is a great achievement -and massive for the club.”
