Garforth Town finally got their season kickstarted yesterday afternoon when they beat Athersley Recreation 1-0. Both teams were looking for their first league win of the season after they both have lost their opening two games.
It was Garforth who won the three points when in the 85th minute Curtly Martin-Wyatt scored which delighted Manager Rob Hunter.
Garforth now lie 13th in the table and have amassed three points from their three games. Unfortunately this defeat leaves Athersley 19th still looking for their first win.
Garforth Town manager Rob Hunter told ‘The Bootiful Game’ “It was great to get the first win and a great header from Curtly. We had seven players unavailable through weddings holidays and injuries so to get the win is a big boost for us. A few players really went through the mill today and I was proud of them at the finish.
“Special mention to 17 year old Joe Colley who came in for his debut and was very composed throughout and also Aodhan Brownlee coming back from a groin injury to set up the winner with a brilliant delivery from the left wing.
MOM James Beaston.”
