Harworth Colliery earned a battling point at Parkgate yesterday afternoon after a 1-1 draw in their Toolstation NCEL Division One encounter at Green Lane-and after the game, Colliery Manager Lee Needham was delighted with the performance of his depleted squad, writes Colin Muncie.
Lee told the Bootiful Game “I was really pleased with the lads today. We had to field three Under 21 players -including the goalkeeper -as we had eight first team regulars missing. It’s never easy when you have to make so many changes, but it’s to be expected due to the time of year. I will be happy when the holiday season is over and we can get a more settled side; but having said that the young lads did a really good job and it was a fantastic experience for them. Our ‘keeper is only 17 years old and he’s done a great job over the last couple of games.”
On balance, Lee was happy with the point-and he’s already looking forward to the reverse fixture.” The lads worked extremely hard for 95 minutes2 he said.” I think Parkgate had the best of the chances but we also missed a few- especially at the end, where we could have grabbed a late win.
“We play Parkgate again soon -and hopefully then we will have a more settled side and the holidays will come to an end”.
