It has been quite a day in TBG towers as the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round has been draw and we have spoken to several NCEL managers and EvoStik Premier Division East side Cleethorpes Town.
Firstly we will start with NCEL Division One side Grimsby Borough and their joint manager Daniel Barrett who have draw EvoStik side Stafford Rangers, “The luck of the draw probably hasn’t been with us but I am more than confident we are capable of competing and getting a result.
Happy to get a home draw and without a doubt it will be good to challenge ourselves against a team from three leagues above.
“We have a good young squad and we are looking forward to the game without a doubt.”
Whilst Garforth Town are off on another away trip, this time to EvoStik Premier Division side South Shields, “An unbelievable tie for us, it is our third away tie this season and it’s four years since we had a home tie so I suppose if your going to continue that run it might as well be against someone like South Shields.
“They recently won the FA Vase and have had consequetive promotions whilst playing in front of 1800 fans every week.
“All we can do is go there with pride and passion and try to upset them, it’s been done to better clubs than South Shield in this competition so you never know, however unlikely.
“The Garforth boys will be up for the challenge and it will be a brilliant day out for the club.
“Bring it on!”
We also caught up with Knaresborough Town assistant manager Gregg Anderson as they host either Selby Town or EvoStik side Kendal Town, “I’m happy with the draw, I’ll be even happier if we win it, won’t be an easy task at all!
“Another home draw is what we were looking for and who ever wins the reply I’m sure Selby or Kendal will be have just as much optimism than we have to try and progress to the second qualifying round.
“Good luck to them both in the replay and we look forward to seeing one of them down at Manse Lane in a few weeks!”
And finally Cleethorpes Town Assistant Manager Dave Smith spoke to TBG this afternoon as if they win their Loughborough replay they will host Walsall Wood, “We still have a very difficult game against Loughborough university to come through, so our focus is on the replay next week.
“However we hoped for a home draw and we have one, so this provides us with a great opportunity to progress but we are taking one game at a time and not getting ahead of ourselves.”
