Hallam anticipating tough Parkgate test

Two defeats in their last two Toolstation NCEL Division One fixture and that abandonment with the game won at East Yorkshire Carnegie adds up to a frustrating start to the campaign for title contenders Hallam, but most expect them to be in contention come April. Tonight, though, they welcome near neighbours Parkgate to Sandygate; the Steelmen will bring a few familiar faces and the confidence a fine FA Cup win at Brighouse engenders-but Hallam’s Assistant Manager Dean Bamforth is certain it’ll be an entertaining evening, on and off the park, writes Colin Muncie.

Dean told the Bootiful Game ” It should be a cracker; there are plenty of ex- Hallam players now at Parkgate which will give them added motivation. Again , we’ll have to chop and change with lads still away. We feel we just need that bit of luck up top and defend better the other end”.

Dean doubts that it’ll be a dull evening in the technical areas. ” Foxy will be obviously at it with the banter, but he’ll get no reaction from me I’m sure” Dean promised.

“After everyone keeps calling us a top side it’s nice to go into the game tomorrow as underdogs”..
