Maltby Main powered through their Buildbase FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round yesterday after an impressive 5-1 victory over Ashton Athletic.
Manager Scott Mason took time out this morning and reflected on his sides win, “Yesterday’s game was a tricky one on paper, we lost last season away in the vase to Ashton, so to knock them out and send them home feeling deflated this year was rewarding.
“We took our chances again and went 3-0 up early on, but Ashton kept going and got a deserved goal. We had a good chat again at half-time and the lads came out and did a professional job on a good side. But overall we fully deserved to go through after a great performance.
“It’s been a great week for the club and squad and we have quality patiently waiting for a opportunity on the bench.
“These lads will get chances and are good enough to start but also appreciate how well the lads are doing who have the starting shirts at the minute.
“We have another big week ahead so we shall use our squads depth versus Glasshoughton Welfare, then plan for the visit of Frickley in the FA clCup on Saturday.”
