Its a tough assignment for Glasshoughton Welfare in the Second Round of the Toolstation NCEL League Cup tomorrow night as they travel to Muglet Lane to tackle Premier Division pace-setters Maltby Main-and Glassy Joint Manager Lee Vigars is pleased to get back to competitive action, writes Colin Muncie.
Lee told the Bootiful Game “We’re really looking forward to this Wednesday’s game – more so as it’s our first real run out for 2 weeks. We did play a friendly against our 21’s last Thursday just to keep the boys match sharp but nothing beats a real competitive game”.
Lee has been impressed by the Miners’ fast start ” Maltby Main recruited really well throughout the summer with some big names joining their ranks ” Lee said “So it’s no surprise to see them right up at the top end of the Premier Division. It’s a free hit out for us in many respects as nobody expects us to go there and win -so we’ll use the tie as an opportunity to field a number of recent new signings and to ease a couple of injured players back in”.
“In all honesty our main focus is on Emley at home this Saturday- but we’ll definitely go to South Yorkshire on Wednesday night and give it our best”.
