“Batman” strike seals Clee’s FA Cup passage

A superb crowd of 231 saw EvoStik Premier Division East side Cleethorpes Town progress through to the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Cup after a narrow 1-0 win over Loughborough University at The New Linden.

The only goal of the game came just before the break when the ball fell to striker Josh Batty, who curled the ball delightfully passed the helpless keeper after great work from Lewis Collins.

Both sides had chances to score but good keeping at both ends kept the scoreline to just the single goal.

The Owls will now face Walsall Wood on Saturday.
