Parkgate FC is proud to be able to announce that Tom Felvus has signed for the first team and is to be included in the gaffers plans for Wednesday’s League Cup game v Campion FC, kick off 7-45pm at Roundwood.
Local lad Tom is the first player to step up from the Youth Teams this season and he reads the game exceptionally well and is very mature for a 16-year-old. Tom was previously at Rotherham United Academy and has shown his abilities since the 17’s started up.
Head of Player Development at Parkgate Nev Hunt commented on Tom’s progress. “Since getting involved in this role I have been monitoring both squads and have spotted a few potential players for the future and initially something in Tom that stood out immediately. In the 3 games I’ve watched him, he was head and shoulders, literally, above the rest and confidently held his own. His ability to read the game and his maturity belies his young age and it was this that I spoke to the gaffer and Chairman about.
The gaffer agreed to get him involved and signed him up and he goes into the squad on Wednesday night. I’m proud for him and his family and hope he enjoys the experience and wish him well, and hope to see more young players in the future do the same.”
The Under 17’s Management Team of Martin Mugglestone, Dan Smith and Paul Frisby have all spoken of how proud they are of Tom too.
Manager Martin had this to say: “We try to do the best we can for all of the lads, bringing them on and supporting them. With the help of Nev Hunt, a great mentor, guiding us in the right direction with the players by showing us how to get the best out of all of them. Nev is already impressed with the talent we have got and young Tom Felvus has already been signed up to the first team, which I’m pleased about”.
This week the Under 18s start their campaign against Sheffield FC at Warminster Road in Sheffield, hoping to pick up three points like the 17’s did last week.
