A massive Toolstation NCEL Division One match up at Bradley Road tomorrow when seventh-placed Grimsby Borough host Nostell Miners Welfare (third) in an early-season collision between two of the League’s more fancied sides – and the Wilderness Boys Management duo aren’t underestimating the magnitude of the encounter, writes Colin Muncie.
Nathan Collins Joint Grimsby Borough Manager told the Bootiful Game “We are expecting another tough game as Nostell have started the season well -but we have a strong squad available and if we play to the levels we have been recently I’m sure we will be okay. The players trained really well last night and they are well aware that if they don’t perform at a good level they will find themselves out of the side -as we have good competition for places”.
Daniel Barrett, Joint Manager, agrees “Saturday will be a very tough test for us” he told us “.I said last season that Nostel would be a force this year and they are just that. They have brought in some good players , they are scoring goals and are getting points on the board. They will be a top 4 team , I’m 100% sure of it.”
” I am looking forward to it as both our games were entertaining last season” Daniel added ” I’m sure it will be a good advert for the League -and a lot of teams will be looking at the result”.
Jason Dodsworth, Nostell’s Joint Manager will have to rely on the Bootiful Game for his updates from the BFDC on Satutday,as he explains “I will be watching from the lilo at the side of the pool as I’m away on holiday this week. The lads will be going away to one of the hardest places in the league and -rightly so -one of the favourites to be at the top come the end of the season. We’re expecting a really tough game but if we turn up like we can I am sure it will be equally as tough for Grimsby”.
“We welcome some big players back into the squad in Lee swift and Jack Owen ” Jason reported “and with Kai Hancock getting more and more near full fitness and Joe Thornton hitting a bit of form then we will be a threat going forward against anyone. We have to be at it from the first whistle to the last and work harder than our opponents and I am sure we will see a really close game”.
“Grimsby have some top top players so we need to stay focused as any lapse in concentration can see us punished” Jason warned. “Good luck to Simon (Holdsworth, Joint Manager) Pozzi (Coach Ryan Poskitt ) , Bally ( Coach Wayne Ball ) and the lads.”
“Let’s hope I can enjoy my last few days with a good result”.
