MORRIS sits disappointed not to be in the hat…

It was a difficult day for NCEL Division One side Worsbrough Athletic in the FA Vase 2nd Round Qualifying as they were left to wait over an hour extra for Squire Gate to arrive – and in turn lost 2-0 to the North West Counties Premier Division side.

Manager Lee Morris commented after the game, “Very strange day having to play on a Sunday, then having to wait 2 hours 15 minutes from time we meet for a kick off was very strange buy you can’t help traffic but it does make it difficult to keep the lads focused.

“We knew what Squires Gate was all about. They are all route one which they certainly didn’t disappoint but first half we was poor and went on 1-0 down through a poor mistake from ourselves but second half we played them off the park and had two clear cut opportunities to be in front but we didn’t manage to take them and in 90th minute we chucked everything up for a corner and they scored on the counter.

“But that’s football but what I will say tonight, we sit disappointed not to be in next round but to be disappointed to be beat by a team challenging in the league above shows how far as players as a club we have come in a short space of time.”
