It should be a special occasion at Manse Lane tomorrow afternoon when Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Knaresborough Town host Northern Premier League side Workington in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. It’s been a spectacular start to the season for Knaresborough, newly promoted to the NCEL’s top flight this term-and ,as Player-coach Colin Heath looks forward to a terrific afternoon, he’s delighted by how the club’s preparations have gone, writes Colin Muncie.
Colin told the Bootiful Game “It’s been a good week for the club this week in the build-up for tomorrow: no game last Saturday meant were able to get on the training pitch. Then on Tuesday we had a great win at home against Athersley.Tomorrow we welcome Workington, a team ranked a couple of Leagues higher than us. Despite a steady start for them we know they will have quality and players with League experience, so the pressure will be on them to get a result. For us it’s again a chance to showcase the qualities we have -and how far we’ve come as a club.I’m sure I echo the Manager and Ando (Player-Assistant Gregg Anderson) in saying it will be a fantastic day for the club .We hope to get a decent crowd through the gate -and I know that the lads really appreciate the support”.
Colin is confident that Knaresboroug can have a big say in tomorrow’s outcome- and he has generous words for the other NCEL survivors in the Competition.”With all that aside, there is a game to be played and there is belief in the squad that we can cause them problems”
“Finally all the best to Staveley Miners Welfare -the other NCEFL team left in the Competition, Let’s hope both teams do the League proud”.
The Bootiful Game would like to wish both Knresborough and Staveley every success tomorrow.
