Denton bags his man hours before Handsworth derby game

Worksop Town manager Craig Denton has added a  midfielder Laurie Wilson hours before the crunch game with Handsworth Parramore on a dual registration basis with Basford United.

A message on their official website says, “Wilson has signed on dual regristration from Basford United and is seen as a real coup by Denton.

Laurie said ‘I’ve known about Worksop for years, since they were in the Conference North and every time we’ve played them the support has always been unreal. That along with an up & coming management and coaching team paired with a strong playing squad it was too good an opportunity to miss out on. I hope to help the team achieve promotion this year and maybe pass on my experience to the younger lads in the squad. I’ll bring a strong tackle, a good reading of the game and a good passing range along with a very vocal presence’.

Denton added ‘I started speaking to Laurie early pre-season but he had commitments with work in America which made it difficult for us to progress, I knew Basford was extremely keen to capture his services again and I had to except that. However, after keeping in touch with Laurie and speaking to Basford manager Martin Carruthers he was happy for us to get the deal sorted which I’m absolutely delighted with. Laurie will add to the quality we already have within the squad and has bags of experience and ability. I’m absolutely delighted about this one!’.”
