Local bragging rights to Shirebrook Town yesterday, as they went to Walesby Lane and came away with three points after a fine 3-1 win over Ollerton Town -and after seeing his side up to 8th in Toolstation NCEL Division One, Shirebrook Manager Rob Camm felt that his side put right many of the wrongs from last week’s FA Vase exit at Barrow Town, writes Colin Muncie.
The visitors were two up inside the half hour, through Joe Cheeseman (24 minutes) and Dec Brewin (26), but Josh Bowkett gave the home supporters in a fine crowd of 134 some hope as the game reached the half way stage. The contest ebbed and flowed before Sam Dockwray clinched the points with Shirebrook’s third on 66 minutes.
Rob felt that his players withstood Ollerton’s early push before getting on the front foot themselves. He told the Bootiful Game “I’m really happy with the result. We were very poor last week in the Vase -with very little fight -so it was the perfect reaction today. Ollerton started very brightly and we soaked it up well; we took the lead and started to take control but after going 2-0 up lost our way a little bit and they scored a very good goal. It was back and forth in the second half; they had chances -as did we- but I think the third goal killed the game off and capped an excellent performance from Sam Dockwray.
“We managed the game well after that –and I was very happy to take three points at a difficult place”.
