A fine win for Bottesford Town, up to tenth in Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after taking all three points in a 2-1 win over Maltby Main, who have started the season in nsuch fine fashion themselves-and after the victory at Muglet Lane, Poachers Head of Media Operations Howard Pirie was definitely the Man with the Child in his Eyes, writes Colin Muncie.
Lee Ridley got the visitors off to a flying start with a 4th-minute opener, but Danny Frost levelled for the Miners after 21 minutes and the 57-strong crowd enjoyed their half time cuppa with the sides level. Robbie Leaning hit what proved to be the winner for Bottesford just after the hour, and despite the inevitable onslaught from ten-man Maltby, Bottesford saw out the win.
Howard told the Bootiful Game “The Bottesford Town roller coaster goes on. We showed tremendous resilience against a strong Maltby Main side. Since Henri Mallette (Henry Cook) has changed his surname, he has really stepped up to the plate, justifying his starting place every week. Robbie Leaning once again a good game; he’s another young ‘un punching above his weight. Under the guidance of Old Man Ridley this team are progressing every week”.
“After the Maltby lad (Danny Frost ) got sent off for kicking Henri french stick it was a bit like Rorke’s Drift (Check the film “Zulu” for historical context)” Howard added. “They threw everything at us and for once a bit of luck went our way. As in the words of Kate Bush “We was running up that hill”
“PS”, Howard concluded ” The rest of team have been asked to change their names by deed poll. Howard Pirie (Head Of Media Operations) has ghost written this on behalf of Chris Deighton (Assistant Stadium Scribbler).”
