Not much tops off a last ditch winner in football, and Bridlington Town interim manager Brett Agnew certainly has a smile on his face when Nathan Modest popped up in the 86th minute to grab the winner away at Worksop Town.
Worksop gifted Brid a two-goal start within six minutes, with Lewis Dennison and Joe McFayden scoring. Craig Mitchell and Steven Woolley levelled the tie going into the break.
But the 323 fans, who were scrambling for their car keys in the dying embers, saw Modest pop up with a brave header three minutes before time.
Agnew was pleased with the win (Obviously!), “I thought we were value for money tonight, we played the ball in the right areas and trusted our mates to deal with the pass.
“We asked for a high tempo start and we blew Worksop away with our movement in and around the final third.
“We move on to Saturday which will be tough as it’s a local derby and everyone is fighting for bragging rights, momentum is massive in football tho and we go into that game full of confidence.”
