Goolies slip up at Botty

Apprentice headline writer Howard Pirie, Bottesford Town’s Head of Media operations, was in as devastating form as Poachers Jack McMenemy yesterday, as seventh-placed Bottesford saw off seventeenth-placed Goole Town 4-0 at Ontario Road yesterday-and Howard was quick to note that the win was down to a team performance and not just the scorers, writes Colin Muncie.

McMenemy had the home side three up at the break with goals after 17, 20 and 24 minutes to send the majority of 66-strong crowd into the interval in high spirits. Jack Cross added a fourth with a quarter of an hour left.

So, hold Howard’s beer, Craig Kendall “.GOOLIES SLIP UP AT BOTTY” ,Howard told the Bootiful Game. “It was a great first half performance from Bottesford and hat trick hero Jack McMenemy put the game out of Goole’s reach. The second half was never going to live up to the first -but the boys put another hard working shift in to lift ourselves up the table. Man of the match has got to go to McMenemy -but Jack Cross had a stellar performance, closely followed by everyone else. Rome wasn’t built in a day and all that tosh”.

Howard had interrupted his evening meal to provide us with his post-match summary, but it was clear that he was hungry for more food-and goals. “We go again on Wednesday against Athersley brimming with confidence” he told us.

“I’m going for my tea now- I’ve got another Mac Attack coming on.”
