It was an afternoon to remember for East Yorkshire Carnegie and manager Leon Sewell as they thrashed Harworth Colliery yesterday 7-0.
A hat-trick from Josh Walker (9, 32, 73), and goals from Paul Wray (39), Jonathan Ricardo (43), Ryan Williams (80) and Thomas Bennett (81) sealed a famous win.
Sewell was delighted with the win, “Myself and assistant manager Chris Burke have been saying for a few weeks to the lads that sooner or later we will put a few goals past a team and yesterday it happened.
“I was critical of the lads in my team talk from l the Wednesday night performance with the amount of chances we wasted and the two goals we gifted FC Bolsover and told them that Harworth would be by far a harder outfit and we must take our chances in front of goal and protect our goal throughout.
“Yet again Harrison Foulkes in goal has kept us in the game saving a penalty in the first 10 minutes at 0-0. If Harworth score the penalty it’s a different game and score line. The penalty save changed the mentality of the game and spurred us on for the remaining 80 minutes with some of the best goals I’ve seen us score this season.
“Individual performances created a fantastic team performance seeing us finish the month of September on a high, winning back to back games and gaining our first clean sheet of the season.”
