Next time you’re watching Bottesford Town, home or away, scan the crowd for the Bootiful Game’s own International Man of Mystery, Poachers Head of Media Operations Howard Pirie; Howard took one for the team today by missing Town’s 2-0 home win over Eccleshill United , who sit thirteenth in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division- and after the win which takes Bottesford up to seventh, Howard revealed a previously-unknown capacity for concealing his identity, writes Colin Muncie.
Howard told TBG “In a tactical masterplan, Corbs (Bottesford Manager John Corbett ) asked me to stay away from the football club for the weekend so we could get a result. I despatched Bernard Altoft to cover reporting and he relayed the following; “We dominated the game from the 1st to the 90th minute; the opponentshad sporadic breaks but were camped in their own half. The scoreline didn’t reflect domination exerted by Bottesford”
” Lewis Bemrose (5 minutes ) and Jack McMenemy (35 )bagged the goals. Jack Bowskin was Man of the Match closely followed by Lee Ridley”.
For the record , a crowd of 58 watched the game.
The result leaves Bottesford with no alternative, as Howard admits. “Inconsistent as ever, we would have it no other way” he told us “The moral of this story is that if we are going to win the League, FA Vase, League Cup and Lincolnshire , I’m not allowed to watch my beloved Botty again. But I will not be defeated-I have bought a range of disguises and nobody will be any the wiser.”
