Although the draw cast them as the home side, Dodworth Miners Welfare, from the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League Division One, travel to New Crofton on Wednesday evening to face Nostell Miners Welfare in the second round of the S and H Senior Cup –and, as Nostell’s Joint Manager Jason Dodsworth reminded us, he has many happy memories of the competition, writes Colin Muncie.
Jason has been keeping an eye on the progress of the men from the other Welfare Ground. He told TBG “We welcome Dodworth Miners Welfare to Nostell for our Cup game. Dodworth have had a great few years progressing through the County Senior Leagues and full credit to their Chairman and Managers for what they have done. It will be a tough game for us, and it’s like a local derby in a sense as we both know each other well”.
Jason wants his side to make good progress in the Trophy “We want to try to put a good run together in this Cup and see how far we can go”, he insisted “I won it with Athersley and it would be great to have a good run in it with Nostell”.
“We won’t take Dodworth lightly, though-that’s for sure -and we will go about our business like in any other game”.
