It’s a very Happy Birthday to Mrs. Howard Pirie from all at the Bootiful Game, as Howard , Head of Media Operations at Bottesford Town, is forced to miss his side’s FA Vase First Round trip to Saffron Dynamo as he raises a glass or two to his loved one at the weekend. Dynamo play their football in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division at their Cambridge Road ground in the village of Cosby, population c.3500 located to the east of Hinckley – and Howard is hoping that his enforced absence has the desired effect, writes Colin Muncie.
Howard is hoping that the Poachers can start to punch their weight in this competition. He told TBG “The Bottesford rollercoaster heads once again to Leicestershire at the weekend for a game against Saffron Dynamo. We look forward to this -as we do every game- but its always nice playing in the Vase. It’s a competition in which a club like ours should have headier aspirations”.
Howard is delighted to see Bottesford’s youth policy paying off. The younger lads have been showing their worth over the last month namely Henri Cook, Fin O’ Sullivan and Robbie Leaning” he told us.” A club like ours depends on youth coming through to compliment the seasoned regulars”.
Howard avoided his usual punditry hoping that Bottesford can advance without him “I’m not predicting a result but alas I won’t be there as I’m in the middle of Mrs Pirie’s birthday celebrations. And when I’m not there we usually do well. Although we squandered a three goal lead against Hemsworth, not many teams will leave that ground with points”.
“Let’s hope we are in the hat come Monday lunchtime. Up The Botty”.
