Two wins in four days at Harrogate Railway Athletic for Yorkshire Amateur, who advanced to the Second Round of the West Riding County Cup last night after a comprehensive 5-0 win over the hosts at Station View following their NCEL win at the weekend-and Ammers Joint Manager Neil Sibson felt that it had been a job well done, writes Colin Muncie.
Thirty-eight fans looked on as the visitors took a single goal advantage into the break thanks to Adam Shaw (44 minutes). Shaw completed his hat-trick (52 and 59 minutes), and Ash Flynn (71) and Fernando Moke (80) clinched the win.
Neil told TBG that he had given youth a chance last night, and acknowledged that the home side had too. “We made our second trip in four days back to the Rail, and I’m very happy with our performance tonight -especially the second half where the lads carried out our instructions as asked by us at half time. We had a very young midfield unit on the pitch tonight with four of our Under-23 lads making the step up so as to rest a few bodies for the weekend. Harrogate had a very young side out, and deserve credit for a solid first half from them. We made a couple of changes during the second half and it told as we took control of the game again with some wonderful movement from the lads”
“Credit to Adam Shaw tonight. He was ruthless in front of goal with a hat trick of goals” Neil added.” Overall, I’m very pleased with the clean sheet and with the lads who stepped up tonight”
“We wish the Rail the best of luck for the season- and we move on to Saturday”.
