In a hard fought FA Vase tie at West Street, an own goal midway through the second half proved enough to see Winterton Rangers through to the Second Round, but Manager Rob Watson thought the game could have gone either way and was quick to compliment their opponents Lower Breck, writes Ian Robinson.
“We’re delighted to be progressing through to the second round but it certainly wasn’t without a fight. I must say, the staff, fans and team from Lower Breck made it a great game even though the terrible wind spoilt it at times. I felt they could have easily won it but we defended well and pushed forward on a few occasions that could have resulted in us scoring some goals.”
Watson picked out his keeper Jordan Quibell as the star performer, adding “He was on fine form and I felt with him in goal, they could have played all day and not scored.”
“All the best to lower breck in their division and thanks to their fans who came today.”
