Jeff bemoans Goole’s bad luck and missed chances

Struggling Goole put up a decent show against table toppers Yorkshire Amateur before two Ash Flynn goals overturned The Vikings’ lead courtesy of Daniel Barrett.

Manager Steven Jeff felt his game plan was worthy of at least a point, saying “We are very disappointed about not getting anything from yesterday’s game. We set up to frustrate them and try and play long because we knew they like to get the ball down and play with it. We went 1-0 up and missed two glorious chances to double our lead. We also limited a very talented Yorkshire Ams team to nothing in the first half.

“In the second half we tired and in Ash Flynn they have a proven, excellent goal scorer. I think even he though will admit both of his goals were slightly fortunate, a scuffed finish and a deflection which makes it even harder to accept. It was tough to take, we didn’t deserve it at all. It’s the way our season has been going, yes we’ve played poor at times but we don’t seem to have any luck either. Fair play to Yorkshire Ams, they didn’t change the way they played and kept the pressure on all game. We just need to take the positives from this game into next week’s fixture.”
