Barrett in mischievous mood after six goal thriller

Even a Marc Cooper hat trick for Grimsby Borough failed to see off a resilient Hallam side as the two teams went toe to toe and shared six goals in an entertaining game, writes Ian Robinson.

However, the three red cards that were handed out provided equal headlines, and Borough Manager Daniel Barrett was in a reflective mood after the final whistle, telling TBG “I think a draw was a fair result. We weren’t at our best today and we shouldn’t concede three goals at home. It was a good competitive game and I think both teams were punished because of that.”

Turning his attention to the performance of the officials, Barrett had plenty to say “I thought the officials were the best we have ever had, they deserve to earn five times as much as they recieve and I cannot believe they are officiating at this level, as they were far too good and should be at least three leagues higher!” before adding “Sorry the interview is short but aliens have just landed in my back garden!”
