Just the one goal clinched three points for the leaders of NCEL Toolstation Division One, Winterton Rangers, yesterday, as Elliot Broughton’s 22nd minute strike clinched all three points in a 1-0 win over a battling Harworth Colliery at West Street in front of a shivering crowd of 68; and although Rangers Manager, Rob Watson, was delighted with the outcome he was less than enamoured with his side’s display while full of praise for Lee Needham’s side, writes Colin Muncie.
“I’m really pleased with the result, just not the performance,” Rob admitted. “We can perform a lot better, but at the end of the day its three points and we remain top of the League. I feel that teams come to Winterton happy to take a point these days, and so they set up more defensively. We need to adapt to all situations and keep collecting points and clean sheets.”
Rob had kind words for the visitors. “All credit to Harworth; over the three games they have always given us a competitive game,” he observed.
“I look at the results sometimes and I’m not sure what happens as – for me – they’ve given us more of a challenge than most in this League.”
