Genuine belief at Botty as League Cup campign starts

Safely home from his weekend trip to North Yorkshire, our beloved contributor and travelogue Howard Pirie, Head of Media Operations at Bottesford Town, is on his pushbike again tomorrow evening as the BBA head west on the M62 to Throstle Nest in Farsley and a Toolstation NCEL League Cup Third Round tie at Albion Sports; and although Howard admits to a little lethargy as he prepares for the trip, he’s optimistic that the Poachers might prove a force to be reckoned with in the Competition, writes Colin Muncie.

“It’s difficult to get yourself motivated for a 120 mile round trip to West Yorkshire on a Wednesday night, but it’s the same for both sides,” Howard conceded. ”It’s a competition we can genuinely win, and come the end of the season it would be nice to have some silverware.”

Bottesford may not be at full strength for the tie, but Howard has no worries about the depth of the Ontario Road squad, and he is hoping that their fine defensive run continues in Leeds. ”We are a bit thin on the ground with injuries but the other lads have acquitted themselves brilliantly,” Howard told us. “Let’s hope we can make it three clean sheets on the bounce.”

“Up the Botty!”
