On Saturday, Hall Road Rangers shared the points in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after a goalless draw at home to Maltby Main. Tomorrow evening, they welcome Division One contenders Grimsby Borough to Haworth Park in the third round of the NCEL League Cup – and although many Managers might not be keen on a midweek fixture in another Competition so soon after a tough League game, Rangers boss, Bill Gill, insists that he isn’t one of them, writes Colin Muncie.
Bill told the Bootiful Game that he believes that regular game time is very important. “It’s nice to get a game in midweek,” he said. “Two games a week suits us; I’ve always been a huge fan of playing twice a week to try and gain some consistency, momentum and togetherness.”
Bill has kept his eye on the Wilderness Boys’ recent progress. “Grimsby are another team that have invested heavily this season to get out of the League that we won two seasons ago,” Bill observed.
“They have just fallen short in the last two seasons, so another failed attempt this year would be a massive disappointment to the club.”
Bill will be giving some of his young prospects an opportunity during the tie, “we are going to experiment with some younger lads for this one, as we have a very important home game against Eccleshill coming up this Saturday.”
