Grimsby Borough were thrashed on Tuesday night as they lost 5-0 away at Hall Road Rangers in the NCEL League Cup Third Round.
Rangers ran into three goal lead by the break and Borough’s misery was compounded with two goals just after the break.
Needless to say, Borough joint manager Daniel Barrett was fuming, “Tonight’s result and report is pretty simple, we got absolutely hammered.
Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say we lost to the better team, it was possibly the worst performance I have seen since I have been involved at the club.
“I felt sorry for a number of lads from both sides, I genuinely think officials must be working on commission this season for bookings.
“Good luck to Hall Road for the rest of the season.
On the plus side the four young lads who got game time for us showed some real hard work and was probably our stand out performers.”
