PIRIE hoping for a less of a “nightmare” trip to Leeds this time round!

Caught between two successive trips to West Yorkshire, Bottesford Town’s Head of Media Operations – and the Bootiful Game’s favourite wayward son Howard Pirie – heads to table-topping Yorkshire Amateur this Saturday in a tough looking Toolstation NCEL Premier Division Assignment; but he’ll be looking for a little more fortune than came his way in that extra-time defeat at Albion Sports in the League Cup in midweek, as he reflects on a frustrating Halloween, writes Colin Muncie.

The Poachers exited the League Cup after a 3-1 defeat at Kulli Sandhu’s Lions, and although the away day started badly, the hosts’ hospitality lifted spirits at the end of the BBA excursion. Let H. take up the story: “Last night’ trip was a farcical trip from beginning to end,“ he recounted, “there had been a three-car pileup on the M62, Deightsy had put the wrong postcode in the Satnav and there were no pies on sale at the ground. Added to that, Bottesford dominated the game for long periods but came away with a 3-1 defeat. Another detour on the way home meant getting into bed at 12.30am. I came out on trick or treat night because I didn’t want to get wound up by pranksters, but I shouldn’t have bothered. The only good thing was the post-match curry provided by our opponents.”

A bleary-eyed Howard turned his attention to the weekend’s visit to the Southerns Stadium. “As is always the case with the Bottesford rollercoaster, we go to the top of the table side – and against all odds – on Saturday and will probably get a result,” he predicted.”

“Oh, to be a Non- League football fan.”

“I would like to thank my four fellow away supporters for creating an incredible atmosphere.”
“Up the Botty”.

P.S. Travel advice from Kendall Towers, Deightsy…the Southerns Stadium is LS7 4JG. Safe travels!!!
