On Tuesday night, Shirebrook Town came close to upsetting Premier Division opposition, Garforth Town, in the Third Round of the NCEL League Cup. This weekend, they welcome ninth-placed Armthorpe Welfare to Langwith Road in the hope of improving their current twelfth place in the Toolstation NCEL Division One table. Wellie, have taken four fine points from six in their recent back-to-back encounters with Dronfield Town, who are no-one’s fools; and Shirebrook Joint Manager, Alan Widdowson, expects the Doncaster side to come out swinging after a heavy cup defeat at Liversedge in midweek, writes Colin Muncie.
“We played very well at their place a few weeks back and a repeat performance would be good for our spirits,” Alan admitted to the Bootiful Game.
“Armthorpe are coming off a right thumping in mid-week so we know that a backlash is expected. They are a very good side on their day and we will have to show them the utmost respect. If we can move in the right direction from our mid-week game and play like that again, then I’m sure we will get the victory.”
“We are in a good place at the minute – and I’m sure the results will start coming.”
