A marvellous win for Worsborough Bridge Athletic this afternoon as they overcame rivals Rossington Main 2-1 at the Welfare Ground to move to sixth in Toolstation NCEL Division One. Briggers Manager, Lee Morris had predicted a tremendous encounter, andso it proved as the man himself (5 minutes) and Kieran Hirst (16 minutes) put his visiting side two goals to the good in front of a crowd of 96 on Oxford Street; and although home favourite Lee Holmes halved the deficit early in the second half, Worsborough clinched a vital three points to move them up the table, writes Colin Muncie.
Lee felt the win owed much to a stirring first half display. He told TBG, “the game lived up to what I thought and was a cracking game. As I said pre-match, we would have to be at our best to get three points and we were magnificent in the first half; we did what we had to do to get three points in the second half to secure our first double of the season.”
Lee is delighted to post another victory. “It’s nice to get back to winning ways and move us back up to sixth” he admitted. “We had a poor October by our standards but it’s a nice story to start November off with a win.”
“I can’t ask any more of my lads – and I’m so proud of them tonight.”
