It was a bizarre night off the field for Rossington Main manager Ryan Hindley – as he was unsure of the final result of their Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup game against Handsworth Parramore.
Well, we can help Ryan fill in the gaps.
The Ambers initially took the lead through Jed Phillips on 17 minutes. Lee Holmes netted an equaliser five minutes later, only for Lee Cookey to put Handsworth back in front on 24 minutes.
Just after the break Holmes completed his brace and sent the game straight to penalties. Main scored all their five, whilst Handsworth only manager to score three times, meaning by that process, that Main won 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw – you get that Ryan?!
Hindley told TBG, “Did we win? I spent most of the game with my head in a bucket and also in the toilet thanks to my beautiful (Editor’s note: we think he means “bootiful”) Daughter Harlow giving me her bug, I think she’s the reason we won the game because I couldn’t shout or upset the players so thanks Harlow.
“We were outstanding from start to finish, Take nothing away from Handsworth, there a fit, young, athletic team with some great quality. Collectively we deserved the win and should have been out of site in 90 minutes.
“We needed a reaction and we got one, we shouldn’t be losing to the teams that we have lost to previous in weeks, but that’s life. Standards have been set and this needs to continue. We are not out of the woods yet in the league, but we are making a couple of signings this week, one of which I believe will send shock waves through our league.
“But back to tonight we got what we deserved and all my players stepped up and I’m delighted…Up the main!”
