McGuire is looking to his players to maintain their recent strong performance levels

Following their narrow FA Vase defeat to West Auckland Town book-ended by two plucky performances – home and away – against Maltby Main, eighteenth-placed Thackley welcome ninth-placed Bottesford Town to Dennyfield in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division on Saturday; and Dennyboys’ Manager, Pat McGuire is looking to his players to maintain their recent strong performance levels, writes Colin Muncie.

“After a good performance and another point in the right direction against Maltby on Tuesday, we’ll be looking for more of the same in another tough encounter against Bottesford on Saturday,” Pat told TBG. “We’ve had a few injuries and unavailability of late, but the strength in depth of the squad to produce another good performance has been pleasing.”

Pat feels that he benefited from an enforced shift in the technical area. “Picking up an injury myself allowed me to take a step back on Tuesday night and enjoy spending some time in the dugout watching the lads from a different perspective,” he explained, “and I was impressed with the performance.”

“The identity of how we want to play is beginning to come through now,” Pat insisted.
“Hopefully we can take that into Saturday – and gain another result.”
