Widdowson hoping for a positive result on Saturday

It’s a forty minute hop up the A617 for Shirebrook Town, who’ll be hoping to improve on their eleventh place in Toolstation NCEL Division One this Saturday when they pay a visit to ninth-placed Dronfield Town at the H E Barnes. Both sides suffered losses to higher-ranked opponents in the Derbyshire Senior Cup in midweek, but Shirebrook Joint Manager, Alan Widdowson has already recalibrated his ambitions ahead of the trip north, writes Colin Muncie.

Alan is expecting the home side to put up a pretty stern opposition. “We go into this weekend’s fixture at Dronfield in good spirits,” he told TBG. “Dronfield are a very good side, as the results show. We will have to be at our best to get anything from this game, but the incentive is there for us to go above our opponents in the League table with a victory.”
“If we put the same attitude and commitment in – then we can prove very hard to beat.”
