A journey of just ten miles separates the Northern Premier League, Premier Division’s bottom side North Ferriby United from Haworth Park, the home of Hall Road Rangers and the venue for Tuesday night’s East Riding Senior Cup Second Round tie. The Villagers will be fielding a strong team for the game – and it’s a contest Rangers Manager, Bill Gill is looking forward to, writes Colin Muncie.
“It’s great being part of a local derby game, especially in the East Riding Senior Cup and against the highest tiered local team, North Ferriby United,” Bill explained. “Ferriby have always been the club players aspire to play for – below Hull City, of course – and regardless of their recent setbacks on and off the field we can’t deny that they still have an amazing fan base and history; and I respect everyone involved because of that. However, we are Hall Road and we naturally want to get one over our local rivals and we will do whatever we can to get the result on Tuesday evening.”
Bill plans to give some game time to his younger players. “We have built a very good Under-19’s team over the last two years and we intend to showcase some of these kids on Tuesday,” he revealed, “as well as giving fringe players an opportunity to demonstrate how far they have come. This also gives us a great chance to rest some key players ahead of Saturday’s tough League game against Penistone.”
“It’s going to be a great evening. I personally hope all the fans and more can come along and get behind our young lads.”
