Draw specialists Thackley ready for Trojans test

It’s now nine league games without a win for draw specialists Thackley who sit just above the relegation zone, but Manager Pat McGuire told TBG’s Ian Robinson that he is not overly concerned.

“The positive for us is that we aren’t getting beaten. The negative is we’re not winning either! We seem to be the draw specialists at present which is doing our points tally no favours. However, performances have been good and I’m not concerned in the slightest, I’d just rather we start turning the draws into wins sooner rather than later!”

Saturday pitches 12th placed Staveley Miners Welfare against The Dennyboys and Pat is expecting a tough encounter.

“Staveley will provide a real test for us but there are no easy games in this league, and the moment you think there are, you get banged. I’m sure whatever the result, the fans will leave with their money’s worth though as both teams will try to play attractive football.”

Pat also spoke with pride about some of his colleagues at Thackley, telling us “There has been some great news around the club this week with the international call ups for Ryan Basi (Panjab) and one of our physio’s, Carl Clifford who will join the Yorkshire side which is fantastic for Thackley. Well done to both!”

The Bootiful Game would also like to congratulate Pat on his call up to the Yorkshire side which he was much too modest to mention.
