NCEL Premier Division side Worksop Town and their manager Craig Denton have moved to bring local lad Matthew Thompson back to the Tigers.
A statement from the club says, “Matthew is an energetic, hard-working midfielder who isn’t afraid to put his body on the line.
He also has bags of stamina and would run through a brick wall for the shirt!
He played for Rainworth Miners Welfare before coming to Sandy Lane under Ryan Hindley’s tenure.
After 19 appearances and 2 goals, he left midway through the 2017/18 season and signed for Retford United.
At the start of this season, Matt joined Ollerton Town where he was a mainstay in their starting eleven.
Craig Denton had this to say on the capture;
“I am delighted to welcome back Matt Thompson to the club. I’m fully aware that he is a fan’s favourite.
“He is a player who we have kept a close eye on in recent weeks and due to the injuries and suspensions, his signature comes at a perfect time for us!
“Matt is a player who wears his heart on his sleeve and plays with passion and pride. That’s why I know he will fit in perfectly with the group”.
‘Thommo’ will go straight into the squad for today’s game against Albion Sports.
Welcome back Matt!”
