It’s a 90-mile round trip for Bridlington Town tonight, as the fourth-placed Seasiders head South West to the Victoria Pleasure Grounds for their Toolstation NCEL Premier League meeting with bottom side Goole Town – and after a weekend off, Bridlington’s Manager of the Month, Brett Agnew is looking forward to the game, although he’s a little perplexed by the scheduling, writes Colin Muncie.
“It will be good to get back into action tomorrow and get back into the swing of things,” Brett told TBG. “It’s crazy that we played Yorkshire Amateur on a Tuesday night a few weeks back and we both had a free Saturday, why? I don’t know – but it’s all part of the fun and games. The lads have trained really well and I’ve spoken to them about having the right mentality going into this game. We don’t want to slip up with it being one of our games in hand.”
Brett has worked hard on assembling a playing staff equipped to challenge at the top. “The strength of our squad is at an all-time high and fighting for positions is really strong, so some of our players are missing out which might be a surprise to others, but I’ve spoken to the lads and told them that squad rotation is healthy for us going forward if we want to win things. Goole will be up for this and on their day pose a threat to anyone in the League, so we can’t take them lightly – and we must be disciplined in how we go about it.”
“Hope it’s another cracker of a game to watch – with the three points at end of it.”
