McGuire is naturally is looking for a ‘reaction’ after the Handsworth defeat!

Thackley, on Saturday have the task of facing the 2nd most in form team in the league in Bridlington Town. After losing 0-3 to Handsworth Parramore last Saturday, Thackley will be looking for a reaction and a much needed three points, writes Mitchell Radford.

As already mentioned ‘Brid’ are one of the most in form teams in the league, after picking up 15 points from their last 6 games. Their only defeat coming to league leaders Yorkshire Amateur.

On the other hand, Thackley sit in 13th in the form table picking up six points from their last six games. So on form, you’d expect Bridlington to win the game, but as we know in football sometimes form goes out the window, when the whistle is blown at 3pm.

Patrick McGuire Thackley manager is naturally is looking for a ‘reaction’ after the Handsworth defeat. “After making real progress and finally finding the big win we’d been looking for, last weekend almost felt like taking five steps back. However, you get games like that and nobody is getting down about it.

Saturday provides a real test for us and for that exact reason I’m calm about the game as our lads seem to raise their standards to play top teams. Brett’s done a fantastic job since taking over and it’s clear from the results they’re getting that the players are enjoying playing under him. We know if we’re not on it that we will be on the end of a spanking – as evident from their recent games. That’s something nobody has done to us this season and we have no desire for that to happen this weekend.

We have brought in Lawrence Hunter from Knaresbrough who brings us a wealth of both quality and experience and he’ll go straight into the squad. His arrival keeps people on their toes and I’m sure the lads will give us the response we’re after. As always we go there looking for nothing other than a win and hopefully it’ll be a great game.”
