After dispatching Rossington Main 4-1 last Tuesday, Shirebrook Town next face Swallownest at home on Saturday, writes Mitchell Radford.
Shirebrook had a mixed bag of results in November, winning three league games, but also losing three league games. A win for both sides could be crucial even at this point in the season, a win for Swallownest would stop the rot of not achieving a win in three games.
A win for Shirebrook could see them move up into 9th in the table depending on other results. With plenty of time left in the season, they could just yet find themselves making a push for the play-offs in the second half of the season.
Shirebrook Town manager Alan Widdowson is hoping for a repeat of the Rossington game for his side. “We start a run of fixtures which sees us play teams in and around us in the league. Starting with Swallownest on Saturday. I’m looking for the same performance again as we showed against a very good in form Rossington Main side on Tuesday. We destroyed them inside 20 mins!
We showed we are capable of putting a performance on but we need to do this on a regular basis. The lads are really looking forward to the game so they can continue on from that result and build on it. The pleasing part for me was the atmosphere inside the dressing room, nothing but positive attitude.
We know Saturday’s game will be a very difficult one but only if we make it. We also have the selection problem of that we have three players back from suspension so its gonna be a difficult decision on who will play for us but whatever we decide it will be for the best interests of the football club!”
