Agnew honestly reflects after disappointing Thackley loss

Thackley have pulled off a fantastic result today beating 4th placed (before the game) Bridlington Town 0-4. The win sees Thackley move up into 15th, while ‘Brid’ slip down a couple of places to 6th, writes Mitchell Radford.

Watched by a crowd of 152, the game saw its first goal come in the 11th minute when James Ngoe headed the ball in from a Paul Whiteley cross. Seven minutes from half-time and it was Whiteley’s turn to get onto the scoresheet, a lovely effort into the top corner.

You could say the game was starting to get away from Bridlington in the 53rd minute when Thackley increased their lead to three goals to nil. A cross was put in and Daniel Broadbent smashed the ball on the volley into the roof of the net. Thackley killed the match off with nine minutes remaining, Jordan Hines getting himself on the scoresheet.

With Bridlington pushing up trying to find a goal, Thackley broke and earlier goal scorer Ngoe squared the ball for Hines to tap in, 0-4. Brett Agnew Bridlington Town manager shares his views on the game! ”You win some, you lose some. Full credit to Paddy and his side they out fought us and for the first time since I’ve been manager they outclassed us.

“As always though I’m not entirely fussed with the defeat as it’s the same group of lads who have got us where we are in the league, so when you all have a bad day together then you get beat. The two weeks off hasn’t helped us as the momentum we had going into the Goole, then today’s game had gone.

“It’s points dropped that we must pick up somewhere else if we want to get a respectable finishing place in the league. We go back to the drawing board and move onto next Saturday for another tough game. Well done again to Thackley enjoy the points lads.”
