Athersley Wright on the money

Just the one goal settled the destination of the three points at Sheerien Park yesterday afternoon, where the wrapped-up members of the Rec-In-Crew in the crowd of 60 saw the home side edge past bottom side Goole thanks to Josh Wright’s goal three minutes before the break – and Josh felt that his side deserved the win, writes Colin Muncie.

“We were very happy at full time to get the 1-0 win in what was a very scrappy game that wasn’t helped by the horrendous conditions,” Josh told us. “On the balance of the game we deserved it, we had a goal disallowed and had five or six really good chances. Luckily I managed to get on the end of a corner just before half-time which was enough in the end.”

“We have been on the end of a couple of disappointing results in the last week so the lads were determined to get that win today.”
